Athletes are reminded to wear mouthguards

TAMPA, FL, USA: This year, more than 3 million teeth will be knocked out during youth sporting events, and the cost of replacing a knocked-out tooth can mount to $20,000, according to the National Youth Sports Safety Foundation.  Athletes are 60 percent more likely to suffer an injury to the mouth when not wearing a mouthguard.

Seeking orthodontic care early on can improve oral health

A recent study by the American Association of Orthodontists estimates that more than 1 million people in the United States and Canada are wearing braces every year. New Jersey orthodontist Dr. Patrick Cuozzo says patients who decide to undergo corrective treatment for misaligned teeth at an early age are more likely to lessen total treatment time, promote proper bone growth, and improve oral health.
